The South Gloucestershire Leadership Academy
The children in South Gloucestershire
are the
responsibility
of all leaders within the Department
for Children
and Young People, to generate
excellence for all; no one should fail.
We
believe that:
w
Leaders should be inspired to extend
their
own leadership practices and then to
distribute the learning at all levels
w
Leaders at all levels are equal
partners in
developing excellence
w
All leaders will be able to
collaborate, to
network their learning and thinking
w
Leadership should be informed by
research,
critical reflection and dialogue |
“Leaders can grow and refine their practice and be supported in their
own and their organisation’s learning”
Our purpose is to:
-
Improve practices for the benefit of
all learners, so that all children and young people in South Gloucestershire achieve their full potential
-
Research and enquire into leadership
learning, nationally and internationally
-
Gain strength from working together,
with a shared responsibility for the well being and success of
all our children
-
Nurture best practice and well-judged
innovation in leadership learning
-
Influence future leadership development

In excellent organisations, the
concept of stewardship is part of the cultural fabric. Stewardship
is leadership without vested interest.
The success of the Leadership Academy
is underpinned by a Stewardship Group that comprises of leaders across
the service and within schools.
The Stewardship group endeavours to:-
-
Shape rather than direct the work of
the Leadership Academy
-
Ensure the processes of
growth and sustainability of the Leadership Academy
-
Support innovation that works
-
Stimulate productive networks
-
Ensure accountability
-
Create sustainable leadership
|
The
South Gloucestershire Leadership Academy is committed to :-
w
Creating new, vibrant leadership learning
opportunities
w
Enriching, extending and leading in
innovative practice
w
Creating a leadership programme that
will build capacity at all levels in the
organisation
w
Providing high quality learning and
support, appropriate to the individual, teams and
organisations
“Good
leadership and management is pivotal to investment, productivity,
delivery of service and quality of performance”.
