Completed in 1987, Northland first opened its doors to students in
January 1988. Its pupil population, then 800, came from all over
Singapore as families moved to the Yishun area.
From 1988, the school has adopted a pragmatic approach to establishing
itself, putting emphasis on academic achievement and discipline, with
teachers working on the premise that all pupils can learn and can
achieve. The values of strength of character, integrity, graciousness,
lifelong learning and excellence are displayed prominently and are
embedded throughout all elements of school life.
