Singapore> Professional Sharing
Sharing ideas in order to further develop good
practice is one of the key objectives of the TIPD programme. As such,
participating teachers are expected to prepare a sharing session, linked
to the theme of the visit, to share UK practice with host colleagues.
For us, this took the form of an hour long presentation/Q&A session,
followed by a series of practical workshops, run simultaneously, which
delegates signed up for in advance.
South Gloucestershire’s development of PE & sport is huge, with a vast
number of initiatives and programmes running both in school and the
local community. Through guidance and support from Jeanette Quinn, the
authority’s PE & Sport Adviser (without whom the presentation wouldn’t
have happened!), we decided to focus on just two main aspects: The
‘School Sports Coordinator’ (SSCO) programme, to illustrate how
specialist teaching is cascaded from the sports colleges into schools
and the ‘Festival of Youth Sport’ to share the success of this event in
promoting and celebrating the enjoyment of sport and healthy lifestyles
amongst our young people.

Being in South Gloucestershire Presentation |
As well as the professional sharing that takes
place during the visit, there is an expectation that you will share your
learning and experiences with colleagues upon return. This may involve
feeding back to staff, pupils, governors and the wider school community.
Teachers from each of the participating schools did this in different
ways, click on the links below to see some examples.
