Colombia> Music Service School-Determined Visit
A little persuasion was required with the Specialist Schools Trust, as a
Music Service was not considered to be a school and Amadeus is an
independent organisation (although partially funded by the Colombian
government and the city of Medellin).
We are rather pleased to say that the Music Service visit was the first
time (and still the only!) that centrally–managed staff have been
funded for a School-Determined Visit.
Project Proposal
To build on, and learn from, links already made with the Amadeus Project
in Medellin.
To examine the whole process of selection, motivation and sustainability
across the whole age-range of the project.
Learning Objectives
To analyse the key elements of motivation, commitment, gender balance
and sustainability.
To examine the processes by which children choose (or are chosen) to
take up an instrument.
To study the role of self-esteem and attitude in the development of
musicianship.
